crypto (recommended) · auto-dfe — both variants available

🦊 OrangeFox 14.1 official recovery is now available for Xiaomi Poco F6 (peridot) with full A14+ support. This update brings working decryption on both AOSP and HyperOS, removes unnecessary anti-rollback, and offers two variants: crypto (encrypted, safest) and auto-dfe (easy ROM switching). Below you'll find the complete step-by-step installation guide, download links, and important tips.

📦 build variants · crypto / auto-dfe

🔐

crypto (TG Mirror)

  • Safest option for most users
  • 🔒 Keeps /data encrypted (default)
  • ⚠️ Must format /data when flashing different ROM
⬇️ crypto download
🌀

auto-dfe (TG Mirror)

  • Auto disables forced encryption
  • 🔄 Switch ROMs with /data wipe (no format)
  • 📁 Internal storage stays intact
⬇️ auto-dfe download

⚖️ main differences & improvements

  • Decryption working on AOSP and HyperOS (both now supported – see list below)
  • Removed unnecessary anti-rollback protection (security date was too high – no more forced format)
  • auto-dfe variant for non-encrypted users (easier custom ROM hopping)

Full changelog: Initial stable R11.3 · routine cleanup of logs older than 14 days. Official release variant is crypto; auto-dfe is community favourite.

🔧 installation · three easy methods

🅰️ via recovery (sideload)

  1. Download OrangeFox flashable .zip (crypto / auto-dfe)
  2. Reboot device to recovery mode
  3. Choose Install from Internal Storage or use adb:
    adb sideload <filename.zip>

🅱️ via PC (fastboot)

  1. Download recovery.img for your variant
  2. Reboot device to bootloader (fastboot mode)
  3. Flash to both slots with one command:
    fastboot flash recovery_ab <recovery.img>
⚠️ WARNING: DO NOT fastboot flash the .zip! Only use recovery.img with fastboot.

🇨 via Termux / Kernel Flasher (root)

dd commands (example for both slots):

dd if=<path to recovery.img> of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery_a bs=1M
dd if=<path to recovery.img> of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/recovery_b bs=1M

Works also with Kernel Flasher app – select recovery image and flash.

💡 tips · decryption & compatibility

✅ Working decryption (tested ROMs)

LineageOS crDroid PixelOS ASCP Stock HOS 1/2/3 VoltageOS 5.5 Axion Lunaris YAAP EvolutionX Derpfest InfinityX

⚠️ Partially working: NeotericOS / other CLO-based (contact maintainer to use grewal's OSS base).
Recovery decrypts — it does not change ROM encryption.

⚠️ warnings & known issues

  • ❗ No known issues at present — but always backup your data before flashing recovery.
  • ❗ If decryption fails on a specific ROM: ask that ROM's maintainer to align with grewal's OSS base (don't nuke Strongbox).
  • ❗ Never flash a recovery ZIP via fastboot — only via existing recovery or sideload.
